What You'll Learn

This program provides a comprehensive introduction to data centres, covering power, cooling, networking, operations, and emerging technologies. This program will equip you with the knowledge and skills to start a career in the data centre industry.

It consists of 15 lectures, each 1 hour 30 minutes, delivered over 3 weeks remotely in the evening covering the following topics:

Data centre infrastructure (power, cooling, networking)

Understand the basics of data centres, including their role, key components, and essential technologies.

Explore advanced topics, industry trends, and opportunities to start your career in the data centre field.

Application Process

To apply, submit your resume and a 200-word statement explaining your interest in the programme to aitdp@eclab.uel.ac.uk. Once you've submitted your application, you should receive an email confirming receipt. Selection will be based on your resume, statement, and suitability for the programme.

Shortlisting Criteria
Mandatory Requirements
  • UK Residency: Applicants must reside in the UK.
  • Education or Experience:
    • Hold a degree (or graduating in less than six months) in a related field (e.g., computing, electrical engineering, mechanical engineering, physics, or similar).
    • OR have completed a relevant apprenticeship or vocational training program.
    • OR possess equivalent professional experience in a related field (e.g., IT, engineering, infrastructure, or technical roles).
  • Attendance Commitment: Full attendance at the 15 remote evening sessions and the in-person graduation ceremony on 11th March.
  • Industry Interest: A demonstrated interest in the data centre industry in your application statement.
Desired Attributes
  • Technical aptitude and basic understanding of IT or engineering concepts.
  • Problem-solving and teamwork experience.
  • Adaptability and eagerness to learn in a fast-paced environment.
  • Motivation for career transition, especially for veterans and ex-service personnel.
  • Applications from diverse and underrepresented groups are encouraged.
Selection Process
  1. Review: Applications are assessed against mandatory criteria and desired attributes.
  2. Shortlisting: Suitable candidates are shortlisted based on the strength of their statement and resume.
  3. Notification: Successful candidates will receive a confirmation email with all the details.
